About Léman
Broad Street Campus
41 Broad Street, just steps from the New York Stock Exchange, houses our Center for Early Childhood Education and Lower School. For many decades after its construction in 1928, a series of banks were the tenants of this 13-story neo-classical building. In 2003, the facility was converted into an ideal learning environment for young children, with many of its grand architectural details maintained.
The Broad Street campus is home to students from ages 12 months to grade 5. Our newly-renovated Center for Early Childhood Education comprises two dedicated floors of the building, specifically designed for the learning needs of our youngest students. All Broad Street campus students benefit from unrivaled resources to support their interdisciplinary, inquiry-based learning, including science labs, art studios, music rooms, and a swimming pool.
Classrooms
As an IB World School, Léman classrooms are designed to foster a sense of inquiry and exploration. Our light-filled classrooms incorporate the use of natural materials and support individual, small-group, and collaborative instruction.
Science Labs
Incorporating the latest STEAM teaching approaches, our science labs feature technology and materials ranging from plant life to 3D printers to enable students to conduct the work of real scientists through hands-on learning.
Art Studio
Our art studio inspires students to create across a range of media, including painting, sculpture, printmaking and ceramics, using the tools that fuse traditional methods with state-of-the-art technology.
Woodworking Studio
Our signature woodworking program enables students to build a range of creations from Kindergarten through 5th Grade, fostering an interdisciplinary approach with social studies and other academic subjects.
Aquatics Center
Weekly lessons in our indoor pool ensure students acquire this important life skill and build their confidence and capability as swimmers. Students also use our 25-meter, 3-lane pool for after school activities and Camp Léman in the summer.
Café Léman
Léman's culinary program, led by our team of professional chefs, expands our students' palates with healthy, globally-inspired cuisine. Students gather in the Broad Street Café each day for socializing and delicious food.
Rooftop Playground
Daily recess in our expansive outdoor space provides students with unstructured playtime, fresh air, and opportunities to master our tricycles, slide and rock-climbing wall.
WonderLab
This interactive maker space offers state-of-the-art stations designed to inspire exploration, innovation, and problem-solving. Through the lab's building materials, iPads, and tinker kits, students acquire critical thinking, science, mathematics, coding, and engineering skills — the tangible building blocks of their future learning.
Gymnasium
The 4,600 square foot Broad Street gym allows students to hone their athletic ability through a variety of team sports ranging from soccer and basketball to floor hockey and badminton. Students develop sportsmanship and Léman pride in this multi-purpose space.
Music Rooms
Starting in the earliest years of preschool, Léman students build musical literacy and appreciation through song and movement, which leads to our signature Strings Program. Dedicated music rooms support vibrant band and chorus offerings in Lower School.
Library
Our Library is the cultural and intellectual center of the school, hosting the popular Poetry at Dawn series, book discussions, creative writing clubs, art exhibitions, author visits and more. Students visit the library during scheduled curricular time as well as before and after school to foster their love of reading.
Ballroom
A majestic space in every sense of the word, The Broad Street Ballroom is on the National Registry of Historic Places. This deco-era venue, with its nautical murals and mosaic columns, is our place of celebration and community. It is home to school-wide events including opening and closing ceremonies, graduation, winter and spring concerts, and parent talks and forums.
